Aww man.... it's August. Well, one week left of freedom... and then it starts--- one more year of nursing. Hmm... don't get me wrong, I am very excited to progress in the program, but a big part of me just wants to finish school already. And if you think about it, well... if I think about it, I'm gonna be in school for quite a while more. I can start working-working soon, but I have goals to accomplish and plans to fulfill. silly girl. Anyway...

I am now coming to an end to my mini vacation... my vacation started last week when the Bar ended... and now I have to come back to reality. Well, instead of thinking of smooth traffic or old patients, I actually had lots of other fun thoughts this past week. Like when are we going to Disneyland, where should we spend the week together, up north?, down south? to the east perhaps? but alas.... my thoughts were merely thoughts and my week went on a little different..... so the weekend after the bar was more of a recovery weekend for Brian... aka: "old man syndrome"....hehehe... but yeah... so I guess I started our mini week vacation being a bit discouraged, but slowly I got over my hormonal episodes and our vacation started to become reality. So.... Monday I book reservations for a room in San Diego... somewhere in La Mesa? anyway, the picture and the description online made it seem ...."nice" .... so I booked it! Tuesday comes along and I get everything ready... fill up the gas tank, clean the bird poop off the window, buy some road munchies, clean out my trunk.... you know... the usual prep stuff. Anyway, we finally set out for the road around 12 noon and traffic was .... "nice". We didn't take the scenic route b/c of traffic so we took the 15 freeway... the HOT way. Well, we got lost. the directions that mapquest gave us had a street name that didn't exist anymore so we went on the 8 freeway East, then West... East, then West... so finally we called the hotel and we got the real directions. When I pulled up into the really really compact parking spot, with all the frustration clouding my mind, I clumsily scratched up the bottom of my bumper onto the curb-island thing in the parking lot. Anyway... when we pulled up to the hotel... it looked ....wel... it was a form of shelter... when we walked in, the check-in office was quaint, but the stairway up to the rooms smelled like fried chicken... when we walked to our non-smoking floor, it smelled like smoke, when we entered our room, there was a bucket under the airconditioner to catch the leaks, the remote control didn't work, and it smelled.... funky. --- but it was "nice".
So, we tried to make the best of the situation... even considering the option to get a different hotel..but we didn't. For dinner we went to Old Town and watched some fireworks from Sea World.. it was fun.. then we got some ice cream from cold stone....but no margaritas, we didn't want to take our chances with the kind of luck we were having for the day.
The next morning finally comes around.. a new day! We go to La Jolla to look at some houses, take in the scenery and just enjoy our mini-vacation. We had breakfast in one of the little restaurants... I can't remember the name of the place, but I know I had a monte cristo yadda-yadda. it was yummy. Then we went site seeing again... drove around to no where in particular.. and then we went to the mall near gas lamp. Afterwards, we headed out to Seaport Village and had a "nice" time there too. We looked at shops, admired the waters... and I encountered a man who said "come here and I'll make you smile"... he was one of those caricature artists. Not realizing that Brian was tugging my arm towards the opposite direction, I walked up to the man and looked at what he started to draw. He had no samples of his work, but he seemed like a nice man ... so I gave him my attention. He asked for our names and he wrote our initials on the paper... and said "watch as I make the letters disappear" ... his art materials included regular pens, weird scrunched up sponges, and plain colored markers. He started putting lines, and scribbles, and swiped the sponge here and there= "love from your family and friends" , added a few dots of red marker= "bubbles of love"... it was "nice" ... but to be honest, it looked like something a child had just put together.. which is "nice", but then he sneakily added as he rolled up the paper, "enjoy the day, enjoy each other, but most of all, enjoy the bubbles of love.... now there is a voluntary donation of $5".... $5.00 for that?!!!!! well, I translated the look on Brian's face as... "oh, what a gullible, gullible little girl..." so I didn't give the man $5... instead, I gave him $3..... he was "nice"....
Anyway, we went back to our "nice" hotel and for dinner we went back to Old Town....
Next day, we went to Coronado to walk around and have more ice cream... it was a pleasant day... so, our trip ended... and to be honest, it was really fun... even though it didn't go as planned or as I had hoped our first trip together would turn out... it was really nice... and what made it really fun was the fact that we endured all the "nice" surprises together....

YAY for BUBBLES OF LOVE!
